Janet Feltz

Associate attorney Janet Feltz is a Phoenix native and third-generation Arizonan. After graduating from Arizona State University in 1978 with a Liberal Arts degree, she considered teaching and worked as an elementary special education teacher's aide for two years. In 1980, however, she elected to follow in her father's footsteps and entered law school. Following her graduation from Arizona State University's College of Law in 1982, she practiced labor and employment law and probate law for several years with the Phoenix firm of Twitty, Sievwright & Mills. As well, she began serving as an administrative hearing officer for the City of Phoenix Civil Service Board in 1988, and extended that practice to serve several other municipalities including Peoria, Apache Junction, Tolleson, Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City and El Mirage as well as Maricopa County, Mohave County, the Paradise Valley School District and others. During her 17 years as a hearing officer, Janet made recommendations or final decisions in hundreds of disciplinary cases involving public employees in all areas of government service. In 2000, she accepted a part-time position as an Administrative Law Judge with the Arizona Department of Economic Security while continuing her private hearing officer practice. Since joining the firm in September, 2005, she has represented the firm's clients in employment related administrative matters and has taken on the preparation of wills and other estate planning documents.

Janet has volunteered in the community as a crisis counselor for John C. Lincoln Hospital, as a pro bono hearing officer for the State Bar of Arizona Discipline Department and in a variety of positions for the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona. She enjoys children and dogs (and has two of each), playing handbells, travel, watching the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Phoenix Mercury, reading, and a good game of bridge. Her professional interests include employee discipline and grievance representation and labor-management relations.
